There are some excellent and good value restaurants in and around Brantôme, and these have been tried and tested by us many times!  The 'menu ouvrier' or worker's lunch is available to all and generally offer 5 courses including wine for around 12€.  Some of the best places to eat in Brantôme aren't on the main square, but you can still enjoy a great cup of coffee in the cafes there while you enjoy the views!          Map of Brantôme restaurants

This is a great little restaurant just outside Brantôme on the road for Angoulême, serving creative food with menus from around 23€.  The service is excellent and the outdoor garden very pretty in summer.

This restaurant is part of a hotel and is on the river just down from the abbey at Brantôme.  The food is good quality and you can get a lunch menu for about 20€ including a glass of wine. A little tip - stick to the male waiters for the best service!

This delightful Relais & Chateaux hotel restaurant is located right on the river, opposite Brantôme Abbey.  They offer a 42€ 3-course menu during the week, giving you the opportunity to enjoy this beautiful setting in style.

Tucked away in a little back street, Les Saveurs has some of the best food in Brantôme and is open all year.  It's ideal for a quality meal, although the prices aren't cheap. In the summer, enjoy eating in the shady garden.

This cafe/restaurant serves typical local delicacies such as the 'Cassoulet Périgourdien', 'Omelette de Cèpes' (mushroom omelette), Confit de Canard (Duck leg), Foie Gras de Canard, and even 'Escargots du Périgord' if you are game!   It has nice views of the river from its terrace, over the road from the hotel. Excellent pizza restaurant set within an ancient troglodyte cave, and serves traditional oven-baked pizza for around 10€.  Make sure you get a seat in front of the wood-fired oven!

Les Ondines is a great place for an exotic coffee blend, authentic artisanal ice-cream, or salads from about 11€ made using local produce that the owner sources specially from nearby farms. A nice cassoulet typical of the area. Great views of the abbey from the riverside tables inside.

Established for over 40 years, the Moulin du Roc is one of the best restaurants in the Perigord.  Its setting is beautiful as well, as you can dine on the terrace next to the river. Superb wine cellar.  Try the lunch menu from 39€ or afternoon tea on Sunday from 25€!

This little restaurant offers some excellent lunchtime menus starting at 13.50€, for a typical 'menu ouvrier'.  The owner/chef here is one of the best in the area. The price includes entree, main course, cheese, dessert and a carafe of wine! In summer, enjoy eating outdoors in the town square overlooking the Roman church.

Great value meals with a hearty 'menu ouvrier' in pretty Tour Blanche, charging 11€ for a full meal including soup, entree, main, cheese, dessert and coffee but not including wine, although at 3€ a litre it won't break the bank. The room is lovely too, large and decorated 'brasserie' style or you can also eat outside in the pretty courtyard.

This restaurant serves a hearty 'ouvrier' lunch for 11.50€ including wine, as well as a la carte food.  Good quality home-cooked food prepared by Nathalie de Bois while her 'Basil' like husband Cyril does front of house. During the summer, you can eat in the outside terrace overlooking the square.

If you are yearning for a classic British meal during your stay in France, this former 18th century posthouse is famous for its good value and delicious fish and chips with mushy peas every Friday night! In the summer, they serve food outdoors on the terrace or in the garden.

A lovely outdoor setting for this hilltop restaurant near Bourdeilles, although they also have an indoor dining room.  Open all year, Les Dames du Maine is a 'restaurant paysan' serving simple country fare but also plan a variety of special menus for the winter. Website

Another great ouvrier's lunch for about 12€ that includes a huge buffet for starters often groaning with fresh seafood, salads, charcuterie and the rest.  One of the two really popular lunch places with the locals which is always a good sign!
